This sculptural piece depicts the 12 frames from a 120mm black and white medium format film reel. The fragmentation of the piece facilitates separating the plaques to create divisions for interspace and mezzanine. Their movability allows the artist to rearrange the gradient structure and reflect on the spaces in-between the negative and the positive to arouse a sense of consciousness.
Grey Flats, 2019
The blank horizontal frieze-shaped structure represents the receptive architecture of one’s identity. The artist invites the on-looker and passer-by to participate by making a mark using a metal implement, leaving an impression and creating a relief. The wooden edging supporting the plaster-body emphasises the boundaries of consent, conveying the limits of our acceptance of influence and invasion
